CHILDREN’S EBOOKS–Beautifully Illustrated Children’s Ebooks and Stories for Young Readers

Children’s Ebooks creates beautifully illustrated children’s ebooks and children’s stories designed especially for young readers.

Established in 2007, Children’s Ebooks was founded to publish high-quality, illustrated children’s ebooks for families across Australia and beyond. Author and educator Anne Garton began writing children’s stories and educational books for primary and secondary students in 1993, publishing through a range of respected Australian publishing companies. In 2006, a friend suggested she bring her children’s books online—a turning point that led to the creation of Children’s Ebooks the following year.

Since then, Anne has focused on building a growing collection of classic children’s ebooks created for modern readers. These engaging children’s stories can be downloaded and enjoyed on iPads, tablets, laptops, desktop computers, and mobile phones—giving children the freedom to read anytime, anywhere.

Children’s Ebooks was created to give families easy access to high-quality children’s ebooks, combining imaginative storytelling with the convenience of online reading across all devices.

As a mother, Anne noticed her own children loved playing computer games but worried that too much screen time might reduce their interest in reading. Rather than resisting technology, she chose to embrace it. By publishing her children’s stories as ebooks instead of traditional paperbacks, Anne created a way for children to continue enjoying their screens while discovering the joy of reading.

The Illustrators Behind Children’s Ebooks

With a growing collection of children’s stories ready to share, Anne initially illustrated her own ebooks. However, she soon realised that bringing these children’s ebooks to life would require the talent of skilled illustrators.

The first person she called was her father, Derek Garton. Trained as a graphic artist in his youth, Derek spent a lifetime drawing and painting as a passion. All of Derek’s illustrations are created entirely by hand using pen and watercolour—no computer graphics. His beautifully detailed artwork adds warmth, colour, and timeless charm to Anne’s illustrated children’s stories.

Anne also collaborated with gifted young artist Cailin Carrier, who was eager to contribute. Soon after, talented cartoonists Leigh Brown and Rebecca Hughes joined the creative team. Growing a Trusted Australian Children’s Ebook Collection

When the Children’s Ebooks website first launched in 2007, just six children’s ebooks were available online. Today, the collection has grown to eighteen beautifully illustrated children’s ebooks, with seven more currently in development.
